Description
The elegant understated Story of God bracelet is inspired by Josef Antoun Makhoulf better known as St Charbel /Sharbel
Sharb means story or account and El which means God.
The meaning of Charbel in one tradition translates to Story of God -Sharb , another “God’s good news” and another the Breath of the Good.
This is a bracelet inspired by our family’s devotion to this saint who we hold close to our heart since just before Jon was diagnosed with brain cancer. St. Charbel/Sharbel has been present very much in our journey since Jon’s first surgery occurred on the feast of St. Sharbel in the Maronite Church that year.
And as God would have it, I passed the St Charbel church everyday as I was driving to and fro to visit Jon and now as we drive to appointments these last two plus years.
St Sharbel is the Wonder Worker of the East, Lebanon. He reminds us of St Anthony of Padua who is known as the Wonder Worker. St. Charbel is known among Lebanese Christians as the “Miracle Monk of Lebanon” because of the favours received through his intercession, especially after prayers are said at his tomb in the Monastery of Saint Maron in Annaya, Lebanon.
Each bracelet in this limited collection is touched to a 2nd Class Relic, a rock from St Charbel’s tomb.
…
The evergreen Glass Bead are to represent the Cedar Tree of Lebanon, where St Charbel calls home.
The Cream with black spotted or Dalmatian jasper beads remind us of St Charbel’s white beard with black flecking often seen on his beard. The Surrounding Black wood beads represent the monastic habit of the Maronite Order.
Lovingly co-designed by my dear friend Jeannine who introduced me to St. Charbel and who has a devotion to Him as she is married to a wonderful Gentleman of Lebanese descent.
“God knows our whole being. Those who ask for his grace with confidence will not be disappointed. Ask Him to give you all you need.”
