“It is well…with my soul”

As Jon and I would drive to appointments for treatment or MRI’s we would often listen to a familiar song list after we prayed our rosary together. This routine brought us especially Jon a tremendous amount of peace. Our attempt would be to keep our eyes fixed on God and remain peaceful in the storm of worry that surrounded our days and the waiting in uncertainty of a terminal diagnosis.

A favorite song, “It is Well,” by Bethel Music played often on the playlist. Jon and I love this song and the beginning lyrics: “Through it all, my eyes are on you. Through it all IT IS WELL. Through it all, my eyes are on You And IT IS WELL with ME…” I wrote about this phrase on two different occasions: It is Well and It is Well…Still. I invite you to read them to understand more.  

This brain cancer journey taught us that life is unpredictable. We encounter storms and and steep mountains to climb over. But God—faith and trust in Him can overcome hardship and tragedy, diagnoses and loss/death. This is a powerful reminder we are not made for this world. but made to live eternally in Heaven with God.

It is well, All shall be well even though.
